Snowy secures Kraken partnership to future-proof its retail brands
15 July 2026 — Snowy Hydro has announced a major strategic partnership with Kraken Technologies to modernise how it serves its more than 1.6 million Red Energy and Lumo Energy customers.
For more than 20 years, Red Energy has been built on a foundation of customer trust, which has been recognised for 15 consecutive years by Canstar and named Australia’s most trusted utility by Roy Morgan.
As the energy landscape changes, this partnership ensures Red and Lumo continue to build on their reputation for providing the high-quality, reliable service that everyday Australians expect.
Snowy Hydro’s Chief Customer Officer, Martin Exelby said the shift to renewable energy is changing how Australians choose to use power, while technology is offering new opportunities for customers.
"The energy transition is accelerating and we're seeing more consumers choosing to play their own part in that. As Australians increasingly look to produce and store their own electricity through rooftop solar, home batteries and electric vehicles, energy retailing requires a fundamental change to meet their evolving needs.
"Partnering with Kraken ensures we can deliver a compelling value proposition, working with our customers to manage these new energy resources and helping them understand their energy use.
“We’re future-proofing our business so that our customer teams are best placed to do what they do best, talk to our customers and provide the outstanding service we’re proud to be known for," said Mr Exelby.
Mark Soper, Kraken Managing Director APAC, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Snowy Hydro as they set a clear path to world-class customer service through their retail brands, Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
“Kraken leverages advanced technology and a 360-degree view of the customer journey, empowering teams to build better products, deliver more personalised support and resolve issues faster - while accelerating the energy transition.”
The implementation of Kraken represents a foundational investment in Snowy Hydro’s digital infrastructure. It will ensure Red and Lumo continue to supercharge market competition well into the future, providing a seamless and transparent energy experience for all customers.
